I started my working career in accountancy for business and through life experiences redirected me to the love for counselling and psychotherapy. I have been known as a listener and problem solver all my life and I decided to put my skills to good use and help others by becoming a Counsellor in Psychotherapy.
While training I realised that everyone has this ability to solve their own problems and find their own happiness. Some do not understand the reasons why they are feeling the way they do or why certain blocks are in their way. This can cause stress, anxiety or confusion as to what is really going on and may keep a person stuck in their ways so they can’t see the forest for the trees.
Knowing your emotions, thoughts and feelings and responding to them in appropriate ways will be the greatest gift you can give yourself. Life taught me to believe that I can solve my problems and trust in living a worthwhile life. I believe in giving back all that I have gained through my life experiences and being supportive to others who ask through counselling. Clients say they find me easy to talk to and I am a good listener, am warm, have a calming presence, straight forward, empathic and insightful.

My background includes experience of issues such as, eating disorders, drug addictions, P.T.S.D, depression and anxiety, sexual abuse and early childhood traumas, anger management and emotional bullying.
I worked as a therapist in a centre for suicide and self harm, and with homeless people who experienced alcohol addiction and also for family carers who have autistic children. I worked for many years with Youths at Risk in various community projects, setting up groups, sports activities, outings and personal skills programmes. I also have experience of working and supporting Lone parents who find parenting alone difficult and stressful.
I offer a down to earth practical approach. Supporting you while you are resolving your issues to overcome the obstacles that block and keep you stuck in pain or living an unfulfilled life. Supporting you in managing your fears, anxieties, anger and sadness by providing healthy tools for living and skills that you can learn. I tend to hone in on my clients strengths and use these to build confidence and self esteem.
I work within a Humanistic, Psycho-dynamic and integrative approach to counselling. The focus in the therapeutic process is on the personal, subjective experience of the client. The person’s own inner wisdom, freedom, and responsibility for self are regarded as paramount.
I am an accredited member of IACP and attend supervision according to the IACP guidelines and follow their ethical code of conduct.
